Becoming a Model - Know the in's and outs.
I have been a photographer working within the modelling industry for five years now, and I have seen many people who have succeeded, as well as people who have not! This site has been set-up to help those thinking about entering the industry a helping hand, and give information on the do's and don'ts.
It would be fair to say that every girl dreams of being a pretty model, and being as famous as Naomi Campbell. Well, unfortunately this is not normally the case and it can take many many years to make any sort of money out of modelling.
Also, it is a sad fact that many models are put off in the early stages by spending lots of money on joining a bad agency and paying for a huge portfolio and nothing happening after that. This gives a bad taste and many potentially good models simply walk away from the business.
Over the years, I have shot with many wannabe models and it has become clear that you need a special gift to make it – not just the looks! It takes commitment, willingness to learn and a good business head to make it. You simply will NOT be discovered over night just because you are pretty.
Many also think they can make money as soon as the first photographer says they look great – this again, unfortunately does not happen and it can take a lot of experience to find someone willing to pay for you to model for them.
From this site, you will discover that there is many forms of modelling, and you will soon need to find the one that suits you, and the style you are happy with.
You will also need to find a small selective group of photographers locally to you who you can trust and will not take advantage of you – this will allow you to work together on ideas and help build-up each others portfolios.
